Numerous special regulations and standards

The construction contract (building contract) regulates the legal relationships surrounding the construction of a building. Key points to be included are the start of construction, the duration of the work and the remuneration, including any payment schedule, but also the allocation of risk in the event of disruptions to the construction process (e.g. due to weather conditions, delivery delays or the outbreak of a pandemic), invoicing and documentation requirements.

Although construction contracts, as a subcategory of contracts for work and services, are generally subject to the general rules of civil law, a large number of special rules and standards (in particular ÖNORM B 2110) must ultimately be taken into account in construction projects, making expert advice on construction contract law and, if necessary, representation indispensable.
